1. How much bandwidth does a 100MB unmetered server give you per month?2. How much does a connection like that cost?Right now I'm on this:dual Xeon "Clovertown" 5310 Quad Core 1.6 GHz2GB Fully Buffered ECC RAM1x250GB SATA HD (Raid edition)2 x 250 GB SATA RAID Edition5 Terabytes of bandwidth per month100MB connection speed but not unmeteredfor $680So I'm wondering if I would be better off moving to an unmetered line. Can anybody please help me with these numbers and what my best move would be?Thank you. Well. FDC Servers offer 100mb unmetered dedicated servers. Starting at $130 but only with low-power servers. They claim they can push 9TB/month of bandwidth with ease. However for that setup you'll probably have to build a custom server with them (I think they only have one multi-core server and it's AMD). A true 100mbit unmetered will cost approx 900$(9$/mbit) others are shared 100mbit port. There are lot of companies offer 100mbit shared. You can push 4-5tb in that shared depending upon the servers you are shared with. With FDC Servers you get 100mbit port to the internet to yourself across their entire bandwidth of the datacenter (around 63GB/s I think now?). So if all the servers are being browsed heavily then it wouldn't be able to reach full 100mbit. Still it can technically go up to 100mbit with no penalties. FDC could do a custom setup for you with their shared unmetered plans you could get up to 10TB a month of bandwidth email their sales for more info. Last I heard FDC had bad uptime problems and that everybody was yelling about them saying not to join. I don't remember how many months ago it was but it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. Is the problem fixed over there?I had a friend recommend zenex5ive com to me. Anybody know pros and cons between FDC and zenex5ive?Should I use one or the other if I'm considering different types of growth? From what I can tell after doing some research is that I can't find anything bad about zenex5ive but I think that's because they're new which has me a little concerned as well. Any recommendations? I don't know who your current provider is but you'd most likely be downgrading your network backbones to a level where they can offer you those cheap prices. Sure you can get unmetered but if you pay $9/meg like someone above said you are relegated to using backbones that charge that or less and you are also forced to endure any cost cutting tricks the provider will do in order to cover the cost of your machine your bandwidth your power and then still some how make a profit to provide you with long term satisfying hosting. So you have to consider is it worth the headaches and possibly the addition of a LOT more worrying and sleepless nights because your site is slow or your server is slow etc... So people that use the one of the two hosts I mentioned that have cheap bandwidth are going to have slow sites? Why would people continue to use them? I mean I don't need blazing fast but I do need a server that is hosted at a place where I don't need to pay $150 per terabyte and the uptime is good. Tonight was Johnny’s night. I turned it on early and caught the tail end of his interview on Star News and was sorry I missed it. I would like to undergo heard him on someone else’s show. Does anyone know if they transfer these programs on Star 39? I’m really at a bit of a loss about the program because I agreed with quite a bit of what Johnny talked about tonight. His schedule’s “theme” was “God Calling Your Pastor” and his thesis seemed to be that we shouldn’t just take a pastor’s word at approach value. As his example he referenced a local Baptist pastor the pastor of Fairview Baptist in Gretna (a nearby community) who spoke tonight about Cornelius and Peter in Acts 10 at his church where Johnny was invited to visit. That pastor apparently talked about how Cornelius needed Peter to go and affirm the vision that Cornelius had and how that is a picture of the way of things today that if you have a vision you need the pastor to come and confirm it. Johnny disagreed with this and he called into challenge the “calling” of pastors in the first place. Now. I accept with the inform Johnny seemed to be making. I think that one of the biggest problems in the church today is that we have pastors saying “God told me this” and “God told me that” but pulling what God “told them” out of thin air. This is why we so often get ministers living in the lap of luxury as Johnny pointed out measure week - because they use their power to take advantage of others. Like I said last week.
